Fellow Rotarians of 1960 Clubs,

Greetings from Rotary Club of Madras South (RCMS), Chennai, India! Our Club was chartered in 1960, and so was your Club. 2010 is the Golden Jubilee Year for all the Clubs chartered in 1960. There are 361 Clubs of 1960 vintage, belonging to 44 countries in every continent. As a fellow member of this exclusive circle of about 14,500 Rotarians, it is my privilege to extend our good wishes to all the Rotarians of these Rotary Clubs.

RCMS is delighted to organize a meeting in Chennai from 18^th February to 21^st February 2010 to celebrate our 50 years in Rotary International. On behalf of the President of RCMS and all its members, it is my privilege to invite a couple from such 1960 Clubs to be present on this momentous occasion. Rotarians from RCMS hope to host about 25 families at their homes for 3 nights and 4 days on a first come basis. The lucky couple will get to know their host families and build enduring bonds of friendship.

Madras, now known as Chennai, was the gateway to the British colonial empire. During the home-stay, special bus tours would be organized to Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO recognized World Heritage site and other nearby tourist delights. Pondicherry, is our French connection and this quaint town is just 100 kms (65 miles) away.

Come and discover this city of warmth and sunshine. My Club has planned many exciting events culminating in a grand function to celebrate the magical spirit with Rotarians of the 1960 Vintage Clubs. You must sample the culinary delights and soak the culture of the region. The previous Meet of 1960 Clubs, in 2000 was organised by the RCMS and it was a resounding success with 22 international families sharing their experiences and joy with us.

Careful planning has begun to script a new adventure and the Committee will draw inspiration from our previous event. While the visitors are expected to take care of their travel from their home city to Chennai, RCMS members will take complete care of the local stay, hospitality and travel.
