Adopted Thiruvidenthai Village and executed the following projects there:

• Constructed and donated a windmill for land irrigation.

• Cleaned the main tank at the village.

• Constructed a community Centre and gifted utensils for marriages to be conducted there - function presided over by Regional Manager of SBI.

• Constructed an overhead water tank.

• Planted a number of coconut trees for regular income.

• Initiated and trained the villagers in Rabbit Farming as a means to earn their livelihood.

Governor's visit was at the Farmhouse of A.N. Srinivasa Rao, where the skit "Kalam Maripochu" was staged by the members.

Inaugurated Rotary Club of Madras South Diagnostic Centre in association with Sankara Medical Trust at Thiruvanmiyur.  Inauguration was done by Smt. M.S. Subbalakshmi. (The diagnostic centre originally started the previous year at the residence of President C.S. Ram and later shifted to Thiruvanmiyur)

The seeds of the Dana Berg Environment Centre was sown this year.  Pres. Ramamurty approached the then Collector of Chennai, Sheela Rani Chungath, who promised to look into allotting a piece of land for this project near MRC Nagar.  After her transfer this did not materialize and subsequently the construction was started at Anna University Campus. Bhoomi pooja was done in this year.
