Tsunami Relief

Along with our Inner Wheel Club, we provided food, utensils and clothes to the affected people in Nainar Kuppam, near Chennai. We worked in close association with Swami Easwaranandha and Dr. Achyut Rao, persons who were respected by the people of Nainar Kuppam and Pudhunedu Kuppam.

The fishermen wanted our help to replace the fishing nets so that they can immediately resume their normal life. We bought 1100 kgs of nylon nets and distributed them to the affected families in both the villages. Dr. Rao helped the fishermen to get over the fear of the sea and get ready to ride the waves to work.

We contributed Rs. 50,000 to the District Tsunami Relief Fund and Rs. 40,000 to the fisherwomen of Oorur Kuppam for rebuilding the Fish Market managed by them.
